Upstream DNS server handling periodically and seemingly randomly reverts to a load balancing configuration, which I believe is the default configuration. In AdGuard Settings/Client Settings/edit client button (or add it for first time)/uncheck all protections/Upstream DNS servers - here enter ISP DNS server.
